In a world of herbal remedies, Yonan Bo, a healer in training is summoned to meet with the Head Ruler. He has little respect for the self-appointed ruler, but fears him nonetheless, just like all the others within the Great City. His anxiety is dampened, he is not the only one called for – eight fellow healers and six guards accompanying him within the audience chamber.

Soon, orders are given; based upon the signs foretold by a reading of the ancient telling stones, immediate action is required to carry out a once forbidden mission. The healers must travel in three separate groups beyond the safety of the defensive walls to find a solution, a way to save the city from certain starvation and destruction.

Yonan Bo suspects a hidden agenda behind these orders. Why now? The city walls have been in constant repair since the day of their completion. There is more going on than they are told. Still, he must prove himself worthy of claiming the title of Head Healer someday. This mission may provide the assurance needed since he is named leader of their group.
